Hook: Daiichi 1270 in size 20-22

Instructions:

  1. Place the hook in the vise.

  2. Secure thread about one eye length back from the eye and wrap back to bend making sure to create an even thread base.

  3. Spin the thread to create a more rounded, rope like appearance.

  4. Wrap the tightly wound thread forward to create a rib with even spacing (should be about 8-10 wraps not too close to each other).

  5. Whip finish at the head with 3-4 turns (don't want it to stand out) and trim the thread.

  6. Cement the whole body with high gloss cement or super glue. Take care to keep the eye clear of glue.

Variations:

Try different thread color combos to come up with a favorite. I always carry red, olive, and cream.  Tie in a piece of flashabou and use it for the body before winding the rib forward for a brighter/flashier pattern.
